WeWW! Molecules with Silly or Unusual Names!

I did a review of the posts I've made so far. Boy, weren't they all serious and heavy stuff! I think I better rein myself in before everyone suffers from chemical indigestion!

So, I'm not going to post anything serious today. Instead, check out this cool site on 'Molecules with Silly or Unusual Names' written by Professor Paul W May. With names like arsole, moronic acid, BARF, thebacon and nonose, who says chemists are serious, nerdy people with no sense of humour?

And what if...

Old MacDonald left his farm,
And along the way he became an organic chemist,
With a beaker, beaker here,
And a beaker, beaker there,
Here a beaker, there a beaker,
Everywhere a beaker, beaker,
Old MacDonald became an organic chemist,

According to Dennis Ryan, “Old MacDonald Named a Compound: Branched Enynenynols” (Journal of Chemical Education Vol. 74 No. 7, July 1997).
